Quilt of Many Colors

July 22, 2009

I finally finished a quilt I have been planning to make for Kalyn for many months. It’s a crib sized quilt with patches sewn on top. Each of the patches are a different fabric, and the fabrics are a wide variety of colors and textures.  Originally I was just going to sew the pieces directly together, but when I went to the quilt show in Idaho Falls a couple months ago I was inspired to try this design instead.  I’m really very pleased at how well it turned out.

An Evening With Four Kids

July 22, 2009

My cousin and I traded babysitting this past week so that we could both go see the new Harry Potter movie as a date night. Tonight it was our turn to watch their kids.  We had a lot of fun, although it was a bit more work than I’m used to. 🙂 Their new little baby slept pretty much the whole time, so he didn’t make it into the pictures.

Llama Fest

July 21, 2009

This past Saturday we went to the Llama Fest at the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork.  We had a lot of fun seeing the llamas, watching a little bit of llamas compete for various awards, listening to some great music, and seeing the Krishna Temple up close.  Kalyn kept saying “horsey” but eventually we got her to say “llama,” or at least it sounded something like “llama.” At the end Kalyn was having too much fun and didn’t want to go home.

Apron

July 21, 2009

This past week I made Kalyn a little apron for her to wear. She likes to try to put on my aprons, but they are way too big for her and I was worried she they would catch on something and she would hurt herself.  The apron only took about 3 1/2 hours to make and turned out pretty cute.  The pictures of her wearing the apron turned out even cuter.

Bingham Canyon Mine

July 21, 2009

This past Friday we went to visit the Bingham Canyon Mine. It is a huge place and was fascinating to see. While we were there we got to see a blast, but it was pretty unexciting.  The visitor’s center is full of exhibits on the history of the area and the mine, and the mining process. It was fun to visit.

Cookies

Kalyn helped me make a cookies a while ago. She especially enjoyed helping stir.

Farm Town

July 21, 2009

The Farm Town and Thanksgiving Point is a great place to visit for little animal lovers. There are all kind of farm animals and Kalyn was able to feed some of them. We’re pretty sure it was our trip to Farm Town that kicked off Kalyn’s current obsession with horses. It’s also is pretty inexpensive to visit. Kalyn definitely had a lot of fun.

Kalyn’s look of horror in the seventh picture was caused by the donkey suddenly braying very loudly while we were standing next to it. Kalyn is not easily scared, and I’ve never seen the same look of horror before or since, so I thought it was worth putting in.

Hogle Zoo

July 21, 2009

A few weekends ago we went to Hogle Zoo with Kalyn. It was pretty rainy, so we didn’t get a lot of animal pictures. Kalyn really enjoyed the rain, though, and I personally preferred rain to blazing heat. Kalyn loves animals and also got to explore puddles for the first time.

Stake Picnic

July 21, 2009

A while ago we made it to our stake picnic, where Kalyn got her first taste of cotton candy. She also got to ride on the “big girl” swing for the first time. It was a great picnic and we were glad to go!
