Garrett Eli joined us at 9:03pm, February 16, 2010. He weighs 3.475kg and is 53.3cm in length.
Garrett is a fighter. He came out face down, and was kicking the doctor all the time. He then proceeded to urinate on all four of us (Katie, I, doctor and a nurse) with one burst. He was screaming for about 30 minutes and was very loud until Katie calmed him down.
His eyes aren’t wide open like Kalyn’s were, but he is definitely much louder. He has lighter and sparser hair than Kalyn did, but has more body hair. His Apgar is 9-9 which is very unusual around here due to altitude.
Katie delivered with no pain medication and “my bottom hurts”. Katie says she definitely feels better right now than last time, but is still undecided if it was worth going all natural.
They just delivered to us a celebratory bottle of Champagne which was quite surprising and very unexpected. That is certainly a little different from Provo! Knowing nothing about alcohol other than I don’t drink any, I couldn’t even tell you if it is a nice one or a $2 Walmart special. . .
I will probably put it on my cubicle shelf at work as a decoration.
Yay, good job! We are so excited for you! We now have our 10th Great-Grandbaby and didn’t feel a single pain. Love you!!!!

yayy! I’m a little excited, if you can’t tell.
Katie and Tim,
Congratulations.
Katie…. you look wonderful, and your son is beautiful. Get some rest and savor the moment.

Welcome, Garrett! Glad to hear you entered the world safely and showing some spunk. Congratulations, Katie and Tim! From the Co part of Kenco.
Congratulations!
Thanks for putting the stats in metric for me!
In Boise, I had to sneak the champagne in the room when my kids were born. Since it had been sitting in the car for a while it was a little bit too warm π but anyhow, better than nothing.
In France, we dip our fingers in the champagne and then give it to the kid π
regards, Cyrille
Congrats! I like his name! Lance’s cousin delivered at that hospital a few years ago right after they had re-done the maternity ward and said it was nice. I’ll have to ask her if they got some champagne too. Funny! Make sure to put up some more pictures today with him all cleaned up!
Congrats to the two of you! He is a handsome little boy!
He is so cute and I love his name! Way to go, Katie!!! xoxo Aunt Judy
Looks like a healthy, beautiful baby boy — Mary’s tenth great-grandchild! Hope Katie recovers nicely very soon.
