We Finally Found the Camera

For at least the past week the camera has been missing, but we finally found it in the couch.  The past month has been busy, so I’ll try and get you up to date.

The last weekend in February all the grandparents came out to see Garrett’s blessing. Kalyn also got to have a big birthday party with all the family, which she thoroughly enjoyed.  The blessing went well and we had fun visiting with everyone.

Kalyn has been adjusting well to having a new baby brother.  She is quite fond of him and wants to help by getting him blankets and toys and etc. She does occasionally get a little jealous, but mostly she is doing really well. A little while ago we caught Kalyn as she started trying to feed Garrett some of her raisins.  We weren’t sure at the time if she managed to get one in his mouth before we stopped her… but we found out a couple days later she had indeed succeeded feeding her brother his first solid food when we found the raisin in his diaper.

We bought a car about a week ago. We got a 2009 Toyota Sienna.  We had been planning to get a car sometime soon, but the timeline was bumped up by an extra large tax return.  I LOVE it.  It’s a great mom car and makes getting around with kids much easier.

Garrett is already a whole month old! He is growing like a weed. He is already moving his head about and loves to watch and look at things, just like his sister did at this age.  He’s definitely his own person, though-he’s a lot louder than Kalyn was. He also has a much different daily schedule than she did. Kalyn would eat every two hours like clockwork, but Garrett goes through periods of the day where he eats every hour and half and stays awake, and then periods where he sleeps and eats every three and a half hours or so. He’s a spunky little baby and it’s so much fun to see him grow and develop.

Lastly, today there was a very disturbing development: Kalyn learned how to open doors by herself.  Kalyn is not like other children, who like to stay with their parents wherever they are and not wander off.  A closed door has been the only method I have had to keep Kalyn in the same room as me so I can make sure she is not doing things she shouldn’t.  When the doors are open Kalyn wanders from one room to the next, opening drawers, emptying baskets, and causing general mayhem.  So, I’m *hoping* that child proof door knob covers will do the trick, although after reading this I’m a little bit worried.  After all, this is the same child who was pulling out electric plug covers at 5 months old. We’ll see how it plays out in the next few days.

I hope this wasn’t too much at once-I wanted to get you up to date, but I didn’t have time for more than one post. Now that we have our camera back I hope to get lots more pictures of these cute kiddos!
